Case History: Food Manufacturing Facility Rejuvenated
Rust, corrosion, and chemically induced stains marred the walls, floors, steel columns and corrugated steel ceilings of a food additive plant. The floor, with its protective overlayment, was being further damaged by heavy forklift traffic and chemicals. The existing floor overlayment was replaced with a high performance screed and over-coated with a durable, chemical resistant coating. Walls were cleaned and degreased prior to application of a three-coat, bacteria resistant coating system. Pipes were also cleaned and coated using OSHA approved color codes. Corro-Tech GP, requiring only simple hand tool surface preparation, protects the columns and ceiling.
The use of USDA/FDA approved, odor free, water based polymer materials allowed the project to proceed without hazard or interference with adjacent work. Interior building surfaces are now intact and impervious to moisture, avoiding the possibility of future damage. The repair easily passed FDA inspection at the end of the project.
